My Story

My name is Tamara Pacheco and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Work therapist in the state of Florida. I earned my Masters of Social Work degree from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida. I served for 6.5 years in the Air Force until I separated honorably to pursue my passion for mental health. I met my husband while we were both serving in South Korea. We also have 2 dogs, Luna and Octavia, who fill our lives with joy and excitement. We moved to Palmetto, Fl in 2024 as our permanent home to integrate into a community that we felt we could support and grow in. I love to read fantasy and romance novels. I have an obsession with rock/alternative music and love bands like Sleep Token, Bad Omens, and Dayseeker.

I long struggled with trying to align my life with my purpose and figure out who I am. From a young age I wanted to help people and knew I would be a therapist of some sort, but I became so consumed with accomplishing the goal that I failed to enjoy and experience the journey and my life. I filled my day with ech checkilist of things to accomplish for me to one day achieve everything I wanted. Yet when I achieved it, I was left wondering "is this is?" and "what is next?" I made a leap and decided to dedicate the same energy into myself that I had dedicated to my work and schooling and was finally able to figure out who I was at this stage

of my life and what was important to me. I learned how my values changed and how what I wanted had evolved into this: Suriel Therapy Co.

Suriel Therapy Co. was developed from my own journey with mental health and evolution in my identity, purpose, and passions. No matter what is causing the chaos in your life, I am here to help you on your journey. I am passionate about helping teens and adults overcome perfectionism, the constant battle to feel like enough, and to be the author of their own story. Therapy with me is a journey, with ebbs and flows, but I bring humor, empathy, and comfortability. I believe in complete authenticity and allowing each session to feel casual and real. Therapy can be scary and intimidating, which is why my goal is to challenge each person to grow while helping them appreciate the process along the way. By facilitating a safe and comfortable relationship, I help to foster a space where we can face each obstacle together and you can come out feeling better than before.

Fun Facts

  • I have traveled to more than 20 countries since I turned 18 between my time in the military and cruising.

  • On my journey to reconnect with myself, I got back into reading. I enjoy reading Fantasy, Romances, and Thrillers.

  • I am passionate about music and listen to a multitude of genres but find myself leaning more into alternative rock music. I am getting back into going to concerts and have recently seen Sleep Token, Sleep Theory, and Falling in Reverse live with hopes to see many more!

  • I ride motorcycles. I own a 2016 Harley Davidson Softail Slim Special and named it Bucky (yes after the winter soldier) because it is Army green with a big Army star on it and just felt right.

  • I am not a big sport fan (Yay Sports is literally my Fantasy Football team name and I am only in it for my husband) but I really enjoy F1 and Indy Car racing. I attended the Montreal Grand Prix in 2022 and can't wait to go to another one!

  • I really enjoy singing. I come from a musical family and I play guitar and sing, but fell of the guitar for quite awhile, but I plan to pick it back up again.

  • I am originally from a VERY small town in Virginia but moved to Florida when I was 10. I enlisted in the Air Force when I was 17 (left at 18) and lived in South Korea and England for a majority of my military career.

Department of Veteran Affairs

Since 2022, I have worked at different VA locations in different positions. In 2022, I initiated my VA tenure as a Whole Health Coach at the Pensacola VA, providing group and individual coaching services focused on helping veteran client's identify their purpose in life and how to achieve their goals for their mental, emotional, and physical health and well-being. I also transitioned to working with chronic pain veteran client's that were actively prescribed an opioid for pain control to work towards reduced need/reliance on medications and transitioning into holistic and complementary therapies that can improve pain.

In 2024, I moved to the Tampa Bay area and transitioned into a Primary Care Social Work position at the Bay Pines VAMC. In this role, I conducted different assessments and worked with veteran clients and their medical teams to address medical, mental, and social factors that were negatively impacting their daily functioning and lives.
